  • Long term English plan Our long term English plan places the teaching of rich texts at the heart of learning. High expectations for the progression of pupils’ grammar and punctuation knowledge is interwoven with the development of writing composition, reading comprehension and inference skills. Underpinning the planning and teaching in this subject at Berrywood is the expertly crafted Hampshire Assessment Model.
  • Let’s Think English This exciting programme is demonstrated to have boosted critical thinking in pupils in studies the breadth of the country. This is a highly engaging series of lessons that imaginatively provoke the class to explore ideas, debate and challenge more typical narratives and assumptions.
  • Maths Mastery approach In mathematics we have been developing our and teaching based on a mastery approach. Our emphasis has been on using concrete, pictorial and abstract representations to help children understand key mathematical concepts more deeply. This approach also helps the children in each year group stay more together as they progress through the mathematics curriculum, whilst ensuring that those pupils with strong understanding are stretched through the deeper application of their learning in new and challenging contexts.
