A high-quality history education will inspire pupil’s curiosity to know more about the past. Pupils should be encouraged to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments to develop perspective and judgement.
At Berrywood, we aim to deliver a rich and engaging experience for all children within our history curriculum. We offer immersive experiences, utilise wider curriculum opportunities, learn from visitors, explore high quality resources and promote a love for reading – ‘A child who reads, will be an adult who thinks’
We ensure that our children know about the chronological narrative of the world they live in, from the earliest times to the present day; how people’s lives have shaped the nation and how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world. We encourage our children to think critically so that they can use the lessons of history to take responsibility for the future.
