PDL

Learning in this vital area is planned through structured units which promote positive relationships and the development of key ideas: safety, caring, achievement, resilience and friendship.

  • PDL Overview 2024-2025 View

At Berrywood we believe in an integrated, ambitious whole school approach to PDL that supports and nurtures all pupils to have positive relationships with all members of their community both locally and on a global scale. When pupils leave Berrywood our aim is for them to have the knowledge, understanding and emotional maturity to be able to play a positive, active role in today’s diverse society.  We want our children to have high aspirations and a positive belief in themselves – we aim for our children to continue their journey with a variety of essential life skills, which include being lifelong learners, believing in their own abilities and attributes and recognising and celebrating differences in others. Our PDL curriculum is designed to be creative, relevant, flexible, challenging and inclusive.

PDL encompasses the principles of the Berrywood Way and our core values: respect, integrity and ambition. As a result, we reflect on our actions in order to make positive changes; are welcoming of people from all races, religions and cultures; tackle challenges with resilience and self-belief; take notice of others’ voice, viewpoints and motivations and We are thoughtful about the person we are now, and how we may wish to be.
